2008 Roundup wrap up
We had the perfect day for a car show handed to us last
Saturday. Low humidity, temp was around 80 or so, couldn't have asked
for a better day. We had a turnout of approximately 90 cars from all
over, Saxton, PA Bangor, PA Denver, PA Califon, NJ just to name a few
we even had a car from Florida, he was visiting relatives heard about
the show and signed up. We also had a good showing from local area
Corvette clubs, Allentown, Easton, Skyline Drive (Reading) and not so
local Broad Top (Altoona). The event was on the front page of the
Friday's local newspaper The Allentown Observer and we had a cameraman
from Channel 13 come out to report on the event. Glenn Murphy escorted
him around and answered all his question about Corvettes. He then
interviewed me about the event. It was pretty cool. Things went off
smoothly and without a hitch, everyone, bar none had a great time, we
didn't hear a single complaint all day. A dozen cars signed up for the Rally which was 55 miles long and took approx. 1:15 minutes we gave out 3 trophies to the Rally winners.
About 15 cars stayed for the movies including Chris and myself and I have to tell you that by 11 pm it was cold. We were all huddled under blankets and eventually ended up sitting in our cars. We had a ton of door prizes to give away 50% off Corsa exhaust, free K&N filter coupons, Corvette America, Griots, Simoinz, Mothers, Ecklers, Haggerty, Eagle, Zip, Corvette Central, Mid America, National Corvette Museum, Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Mequiers, Jegs, Stoners, Invisible glass, Moroso, Lexol, Jasper engines just to name a few. We had a Corvette trivia contest and gave away 20 prizes. It amazes me at how much we know about our cars. I'll list the names of the Folks that took home show trophies, however they won't be in any order. We asked members belonging to clubs other than the CCDV to help with the judging and got a good response. We had folks from Skyline CC, Allentown CCI Easton CC and I think Broad Top CC help with the Judging.

2007 Show Summary - by Don Terranova
The Roundup was a success despite the threat of bad weather which kept many Corvettes away. The rain held off for the show but that’s not what the forecast called for, it was unusually hot and humid that day. Usually it’s 7 to 10 degrees cooler up around the mountains but not on June 2nd it was a steamer. We made some money for the club, not enough to buy a clubhouse but we did make money. We also found out that Easton Area Corvette Club had their main show on the same day which draws 500 plus cars. We’ll avoid that date next year. We had a turnout of approximately 100 Corvettes and a ton of trophies awarded. There were 24 cars that participated in the rally. Dr. Dave Bresler our MC/DJ did a terrific job all day spinning records, making announcements and awarding prizes for a Corvette Trivia Game. Glenn M. and Rick C. ran the slow Drag Race that is always freakishly popular. All those that where there can attest to the fact that Jim Bole (the slow drag race winner) has the slowest Corvette in the club, maybe even the East Coast. Rick C. and his group of Judges did a flawless, terrific job and many trophies were awarded. Chris T. and her group ran the main tent where everything was sold, all the questions answered, Rally and Show scores tabulated and is still living to talk about it. Joe P. and his team did a great job parking cars. Jim B. and his team registered the cars and Tony B. greeted everyone with a Howdy and a slap on the knee. It was amazing how smoothly the event went; it was as if we’d done it 20 times. The list of those to thank goes on and on... Thanks to all of you. Everyone at the Roundup had a really good time and vowed to return next year. That’s the most important thing. Nothing can be done about bad weather or the forecast of bad weather and conflicting events but the fact is that if you have a quality event that people enjoy attending you can be assured that it will grow and grow. I think this event has real potential. The movies after the Roundup were first run and the fireworks great. Being the first time we’ve done this event we fully expected to have to tweak it for next year. It was suggested to start the show later in the day to give those that need to drive a distance a little more time. This is a great suggestion I’m sorry we didn’t think of this sooner. Another is to have a lunch cruise through the countryside on Sunday for those from out of town that spent Saturday night.
