2007 Show Summary - by Don Terranova
The Roundup was a success despite the threat of bad weather which kept many Corvettes away. The rain held off for the show but that’s not what the forecast called for, it was unusually hot and humid that day. Usually it’s 7 to 10 degrees cooler up around the mountains but not on June 2nd it was a steamer. We made some money for the club, not enough to buy a clubhouse but we did make money. We also found out that Easton Area Corvette Club had their main show on the same day which draws 500 plus cars. We’ll avoid that date next year. We had a turnout of approximately 100 Corvettes and a ton of trophies awarded. There were 24 cars that participated in the rally. Dr. Dave Bresler our MC/DJ did a terrific job all day spinning records, making announcements and awarding prizes for a Corvette Trivia Game. Glenn M. and Rick C. ran the slow Drag Race that is always freakishly popular. All those that where there can attest to the fact that Jim Bole (the slow drag race winner) has the slowest Corvette in the club, maybe even the East Coast. Rick C. and his group of Judges did a flawless, terrific job and many trophies were awarded. Chris T. and her group ran the main tent where everything was sold, all the questions answered, Rally and Show scores tabulated and is still living to talk about it. Joe P. and his team did a great job parking cars. Jim B. and his team registered the cars and Tony B. greeted everyone with a Howdy and a slap on the knee. It was amazing how smoothly the event went; it was as if we’d done it 20 times. The list of those to thank goes on and on... Thanks to all of you.

Everyone at the Roundup had a really good time and vowed to return next year. That’s the most important thing. Nothing can be done about bad weather or the forecast of bad weather and conflicting events but the fact is that if you have a quality event that people enjoy attending you can be assured that it will grow and grow. I think this event has real potential. The movies after the Roundup were first run and the fireworks great.

Being the first time we’ve done this event we fully expected to have to tweak it for next year. It was suggested to start the show later in the day to give those that need to drive a distance a little more time. This is a great suggestion I’m sorry we didn’t think of this sooner. Another is to have a lunch cruise through the countryside on Sunday for those from out of town that spent Saturday night. If you have a suggestion that you feel would make this a better event please feel free to send it to me at bigroundup@yahoo.com.

I would like to end this article with a mention of the Brother and Sister that own Becky’s Drive-In Theatre, Cindy and Darrell. They are 2 of the nicest people I have ever had the pleasure to deal with. They couldn’t do enough for us and asked for nothing in return. I want to say Thank You, Thank You, and Thank You! If you would like to drop Cindy and Darrell an email thanking them here is their website http://www.BeckysDI.com.
